Ingredients Spotlight: Little Beast Pet Shampoo Bar

Here at Little Soap, we always go to great lengths to not only be as transparent as we can be about the ingredients we use, but to also strive to educate too. We believe that everyone should know as much as they can about the products they invest in and the brands they trust. Especially when it comes to what you put on your skin- and the same goes for our pets! So we thought we’d take a bit of a deep dive into the carefully selected ingredients in our little Beast Pet Shampoo bar, and why we chose them. Do let us know if you have any questions at all!

Natural ingredients

The Little Beast range perfectly echoes our ‘human’ range, with all ingredients being organic, made with all-natural products and fragranced only with pure essential oils. There are no synthetic fragrances and because the ingredients are natural, they’re kind to your skin too and are safe to use alongside regular flea/ tick preventative methods and all other medicines.

So what exactly is in the Little Beast Pet Shampoo Bar?

Organic Sodium Palmate

Starting with Organic Sodium Palmate– a surfactant derived from palm oil. What’s a surfactant? Put simply, it’s a substance that, when dissolved, helps to get rid of dirt, oil and other pollutants. Surfactants are commonly used in skincare products. So why do we use surfactants derived from palm oil?

Palm oil has an amazing ability to remove oil and dirt from the skin, but it also has a special fatty agent that works to restore natural oils too. Lots of anti-ageing products use palm oil because it’s so great at providing really deep moisture; we use it in our pet shampoo bar for the very same reason.

Organic Sodium Cocoate

Organic Sodium Cocoate is another surfactant, this time derived from coconut oil. We use this in our pet shampoo bar because it’s such a great moisturiser- for all skin types. We love the fact that it really works to hydrate whilst also preventing dryness and flaking of the skin. It’s a really fantastic ingredient to keep your pet’s coat shiny and soft!

Castor Oil

Castor oil is a great ingredient because it has amazing anti-viral properties. This means it’s able to help fight off infection, and it’s a wonderful anti-oxidant too- fantastic for cleansing, moisturising and soothing irritations. This fabulous little ingredient will keep your pet’s skin super soft and smooth!

Pure Lavender Essential Oil

Not only is lavender essential oil amazing for calming and soothing (and let’s face it, that ingredient alone is a must if your pet isn’t a fan of bath time!), but it’s a wonderful healer too, helping to soothe irritation and soften dry skin. It’s also great for soothing bruises, stings and insect bites.

Coffee Granules

Trust us, we’ve done our homework- and we’re here to tell you that ground coffee beans are not only fantastic fertilisers (always compost your coffee grounds!) but they’re also amazing for natural protection against fleas and ticks too. It’s important to note though, that our pet shampoo bar shouldn’t be used as a replacement for your usual flea and tick treatment; you can certainly use it alongside without any issues, so definitely keep up with your pet’s usual regime.

Apricot Kernel Oil

This one is really simple. Apricot kernel oil is a wonderful moisturiser, so we add that to Little Bears pet shampoo bar to help keep your pet’s skin hydrated and soft.

Limonene

Three Little Dog Grooming Tips for Autumn_LIttleSoapCompany.co.uk

Limonene is a great little addition to our pet shampoo bar as it works as a deodoriser, helping to eliminate smells and removing fur stains, whilst keeping insect bites or other irritations under control.

Linalool

Linalool is a natural ingredient derived from plants, and another essential for our pet shampoo bar as it too helps to repel fleas and ticks.

How to use the Little Beast Pet Shampoo Bar

Now you know what’s in it, how do you use it? Here are our top tips for a successful bath time for your four-legged friend.

  • Stay calm. If your pet isn’t a big fan of the bath, this tip is essential. There’s a really good chance your pet will pick up on your own anxiety, and vice-versa, which will only make the whole process so much more stressful.
  • Rinse first– and make sure the water isn’t too hot, or too cold.
  • Rub the soap bar gently into your pet’s coat until a lather appears. Massage in well.
  • After washing, gently rinse your pet until all bubbles are gone, then dry with a towel.
  • Don’t be concerned if your pet’s coat looks ‘tacky’ after washing and drying. This is totally normal, and all down to the natural oils soaking in. When the coat is completely dry, it will go back to normal and trust us- it will smell amazing too!

Little Beast Pet Shampoo Bar can be used on any animal with fur. If you’ve got any questions at all, please get in touch- we’re always happy to help!
